SIEW - Singapore International Energy Week 2010
Singapore International Energy Week 2010

The Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) is an annual platform for energy professionals, policy makers and commentators to discuss energy issues, strategies and solutions.

The appetite for economic development and urban progress, coupled with climate change concerns and the development of more efficient energy technologies, are driving change amongst consumers and in the energy industry.

SIEW aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and discussions on pertinent energy-related issues, while simultaneously meeting the strategic objectives of Singapore’s commitment to becoming a global leading energy hub.

First held in 2008, attendance at SIEW doubled from about 2,500 participants in 2008 to over 5,000 last year.

SIEW is jointly organised by:

* Energy Market Authority (EMA)
o Formed in 2001 as a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) is tasked to promote effective competition in the energy market, ensure a reliable and secure energy supply, and develop a dynamic energy sector in Singapore.
* Energy Studies Institute (ESI)
o The Energy Studies Institute (ESI) is an independent research body established within the National University of Singapore (NUS). The institute conducts research and analyses focused on Energy Economics, Energy Security and the Environment, with the aim of understanding local, regional and global energy issues.
