The first unit built around the innovation is up and running. It has been such a resounding success that a second unit has been ordered and a new phase of modernisation is under way at the site to house it. Gressingham Foods are Britain’s largest producer of duck. The company’s department manager Martin Beales said: “The units are extremely important. We simply couldn’t do without them.”
Keith Calver of the Adcock Group said: “Gressingham Foods is committed to considerable future expansion and, having worked with them over the last two years, it is exciting to see the ongoing progress. As far as the core condenser technology is concerned, we are thrilled to have had a role in the first UK installation and are now working with J & E Hall to identify other suitable environments for it.”
The ICUs running on R404a allow temperatures to be fully controlled throughout the factory. The units have the power and capacity to serve a number of individual areas – helping to do away with the complications caused by having separate refrigeration systems spread across the site.
The new ICUs from Halls are perfect for cold stores, blast chillers, blast freezers, food processing, food distribution centres and supermarkets. They are fitted with HSML HallScrew semi-hermetic single screw compressors, available with high or low speed fans. These factory-built ICUs are easy to install: they include oil separator, liquid receiver and oil management system; and are fully wired with all motor starters and controls – only the mains electrical supply and start-stop signal wiring is required on site. Other benefits include low noise levels down to 76d(B)A or 80d(B)A for standard option, small footprint for jobs where space is at a premium and 100 per cent standby capacity for critical cooling systems.
