LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, was recognized a total of 14 times by two of the design industry’s most prominent competitions - red dot and iF (International Forum) design awards. The gala award ceremony will take place on June 29, 2009 at the Aalto-Theatre in Essen, Germany and all award-winning entries will be exhibited in a special exhibition from June 30 through July 29, 2009, at the red dot design museum in Essen.
LG was awarded the 2009 red dot award for product design in seven categories, and the world’s first aluminium body air conditioner was one of the winners. Other LG products recognized by red dot include the Bluetooth speaker, Secret phone, 3G Watch phone, Universe washer/dryer pair with square doors, microwave oven with wide transparent screen and stylish DVD player. LG also received Germany’s iF design award in seven categories for its trendsetting products such as the four-door French-door refrigerator, 8MP touch screen Renoir phone, and plasma TVs.
“Every LG product is designed with the needs of our customers in mind,” said Paul Bae, the head of LG Electronics Corporate Design Centre. “Our design expertise is what sets LG apart from others in the industry. We are committed to bringing consumers a refreshing and unique experience with the products they use every day.”
