On 15 June 2011, 72 European companies signed up to a declaration calling for the EU to increase its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions target from 20% to 30%. The declaration came shortly after RAC industry experts petitioned for more training and regulation to meet environmental targets at the 14th European Conference on the Latest Technologies in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

In the largest coporate effort yet backing deeper carbon cuts, over 70 European businesses signed a declaration urging the EU for tougher GHG emissions reductions targets to help accelerate the change to a low carbon economy. The declaration sees firms support more ambitious EU targets for 2020, highlighting the environmental, economic and social benefits of reducing emissions.
